President's Message

Munoz_SP_December 2021

On behalf of our Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, and administrators, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to Long Beach City College (LBCC).

As LBCC’s Superintendent-President, I couldn't be more excited to see you taking the necessary steps in your journey toward achieving your academic goals. Whether you are looking to transfer to a university, earn a degree, or earn a certificate, LBCC will help prepare you for success in all your career and life goals. For nearly a century, LBCC has been supporting our community and economy through the success of our graduates and alumni. We are so glad you have chosen to be part of that tradition.

We firmly believe that you belong at Long Beach City College. It is a special place where you can become whomever you want to be, and be accepted and embraced exactly for who you are, without compromise. We are dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment where ALL students thrive. Our commitment is reflected in the establishment of focused learning communities for our Latina/o/x, Black, Asian Pacific Islander Desi, and LGBTQIA+ students. LBCC is proud of our designation as both a Hispanic-Serving Institution and as an Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution. We recognize the challenges that our diverse student body faces and have implemented programs to help LBCC’s student-parents, formerly incarcerated students, and gang-impacted youth succeed, no matter what obstacles may exist. We have a robust Office of Basic Needs where we assist our students facing housing, food, transportation or technology insecurities. Our goal is to break down barriers and empower every student, regardless of their background, to reach their educational goals.

I hope you will also enjoy the active and vibrant Student Life programs we offer to enrich your experience here at LBCC – from our student clubs to supporting our student athletes at home games. And our staff is always available to answer your questions, whether they’re about financial aid, tutoring, mental health services, or whatever other resources you need to reach your goals.

Each and every one of us has been through so much these past few years. But I remain filled with hope that this new era will be filled with promise and success - both individually and as a collective campus community. Always remember, Long Beach City College where we can all thrive and BE successful. A place where we all BElong!
