Television Sports Broadcasting - Associate in Arts

This program teaches the fundamentals of knowledge and skills needed for today’s sports broadcasting technicians and other production jobs. The degree is designed to successfully prepare students for employment with entry and mid-level sports broadcasting production companies, local stations, cable and broadcast networks, and streaming companies dealing in this genre. Potential careers students may enter: Studio Camera Operator, Hand Held Camera Operator, Camera Assistant, Audio Mixer, Audio Assistant, Slo-Motion Replay Operator, Technical Director, Floor Director, Director, Producer, Assistant Producer, Video Operator, and Computer Graphics Operator. It encompasses sports broadcasting essentials such as camera operation, video switching, slo-motion replay, audio mixing, video operation, computer graphics production, and on-air announcing. This AA involves the preparation of students for one or more baccalaureate majors. Baccalaureate majors or related majors include Sports Broadcasting, Television Production, and Digital Media Production. These courses will meet the lower division requirements of a major baccalaureate institutions; private colleges and universities, as well as UC and CSU Systems.
