Addiction Treatment Counseling & Mental Health Studies - Certificate of Achievement

This program will prepare students for entry-level occupations in the field of addiction treatment and recovery field. Completing the coursework for this program will prepare students for certification as a Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor (CATC). Students interested in state-level certification must take additional courses required to be eligible for the state examination. Completing this certificate may also prepare the student for the associate degree in Human Services Addiction Studies.
Program Student Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate knowledge of key theories and approaches underlying human services intervention and prevention models for population with drug use disorders, linking participants to related resources for treatment, locating and providing resources for social services and helplines for treatment and prevention, understand how culture impacts help seeking and recovery, learning advocacy against the stigma surrounding drugs and society.
